The TERMIS model receives live data from the SCADA system as well as forecast
information about weather conditions through the data interface, Data Manager.
This enables the model to continuously predict future consumption even during
periods of quickly changing or extreme weather conditions.
Based on these data TERMIS Operation runs a simulation for the entire
network, allowing the operator to see exactly how his district heating
distribution network is operating – right now – AND up to 3 days from now. The
operator can choose to display a number of different variables, such as supply
temperature, return temperature, pressure, flow etc, as he wishes. All the
display functions in the TERMIS system is fully available when going real-time.
What are the Benefits of TERMIS Operation
TERMIS Operation gives
the operator a number of immediate benefits in terms of better overview and
improved operation of the network, both from a technical viewpoint as an
economic.
Improved Network Overview
The real-time TERMIS (TERMIS Operation)
allows the operator to gain full overview of all aspects of his plant. The
knowledge normally only available in the head of the experienced operator is now
available for everyone, enabling them to obtain full operational knowledge of
the bottlenecks and potential of the network.
TERMIS Operation displays the data, such as temperature,
with color coding all over the network, enabling the user to learn how the
network is functioning at any given time.
The information can be made available to the call center enabling them to
give accurate information about the energy supply anywhere in the network,
shortcomings or temporary problems will be evident. The call center can click on
any node in the network to see measurements such as
the pressure at the specific location. Alarm setpoints for all parameters can be
preconfigured.
The model has an accuracy of around 1%, which means that the model can, in
most places, substitute the need for costly instrumentation – here alone the
pay-back of TERMIS Operation is secured several times.
Prediction of Demand
TERMIS Operation is fully integrated with
SCADA and can be prepared to send an alarm to the SCADA system if error conditions in the
network are predicted. The TERMIS system will constantly predict the demand of
your network, which is based on history and on the current and future weather
situation.
By a click of the mouse the operator can simulate the closing of a valve.
TERMIS will run prediction and return an alarm if one of the pre-configured
set-points is exceeded. The operator will therefore quickly and easily be able
to advise the staff in the field if it is safe to close a specific valve. Other
related problems can be seen and avoided with intervention simulation.
