What’s new in TERMIS Operation 4.0 (Part 4)

Operation 4.0 is scheduled for release on September 30, 2011

This is number four topic in a series of 4 that explains enhancements and news related to Operation 4.0

Pump Optimization

The pump optimization which is available in TERMIS 2.10 has been implemented in TERMIS Operation as an add-on module.

The pump optimization module offers continual observation of your district energy network. The module moreover ensures that the configuration agrees with current conditions at any given time with the object of minimizing (lowering) the total cost of operation for your network.

 Pump Optimization

With Pump Optimization you will obtain:

  • Optimal pressure set point.
  • Optimal number of pumps in Operation for each pump station.

Demand Analysis Model

A new stand-alone application, Demand Analysis, conducts an analysis of hourly measurements of power and outdoor temperature stored in Data Manager for a period of time, typically a year or more.

The outcome is a table of linear regression coefficients for the expected normalized demand dependent on actual outdoor temperature and hour of week.

A table of linear regression coefficients is exported to TERMIS Operation. This table forms basis for an alternative estimate of the future node demand based on a meteorological forecast of outdoor temperature and an average node demand.

Demand Analysis Model

Time and outdoor temperature dependent demand is calculated in TERMIS Operation using the following formula:

or T < Tref:
E(t,i) = (A1(t,i) * T + B1(t,i) )*EA
For T => Tref:
E(t,i) = (A2(t,i) * T + B2(t,i))*EA

Migration of TERMIS 2.10 Models to Operation

The migration procedure for TERMIS 2.10 models to Operation has been slightly revised.

The new functionality includes additional transfer of simple text from TERMIS.

Applied pipe catalog references in TERMIS 2.10 are transferred best possible to Operation using configured lookup functions for diameter, roughness, and heat loss coefficients.

The consumer attribute used in TERMIS 2.10 to calculate the node demand is now transferred using the original value allowing the user to recognize this. The node demand is afterwards calculated using a derived attribute.

Measurement Used to Define Boiler Data

The dialogs that control the production scheduler have been updated with new features.

The time dependent dialog has a new column that displays the sum of powers of units with priority less or equal to the current unit.

All relevant columns like availability, max capacity, etc., can now be defined as a formula or as a measurement via a right-click function.

Measurement Used to Define Boiler Data

The columns marked with a red circle are either configured as a static value or as a formula/measurement.
